The Collaborative Process starts with a Collaboratively trained attorney who helps you navigate the divorce process, provides legal advice, and assists in selecting professionals to create customized solutions for your family. The attorney will first assess whether your family would benefit from the Collaborative Process and whether the Collaborative Process is appropriate for your family.
Once the couple has selected the Collaborative Process, each client will be represented by a Collaboratively trained attorney who will:
- Prepare you for Collaborative meetings
- Listen to your concerns
- Accompany you to the Collaborative meetings
- Assist you in advocating for yourself
- Help you create options for your case going forward
- Evaluate those options to see which options best meet your needs
- Answer any questions that you may have
- Work with the other professionals in a collaborative manner to help you reach resolution
- Draft the written settlement agreement
- Assist you in obtaining a divorce after the conclusion of the Collaborative Process
