Ilene is a skilled and compassionate advocate. For over two decades Ilene has dedicated her career exclusively to all aspects of family law. Whether a matter is resolved through contested litigation or amicably, Ilene’s goal is to guide her clients to solutions which empower them to regain control of their lives and move forward.
The process of restructuring your family due to separation or divorce can be overwhelming, both financially and emotionally. The decisions that you make early, can make the process manageable and cost-effective. From the outset, Ilene works closely with her clients with the goal of a sound resolution without having the process itself unintentionally leave the family stuck in ongoing conflict.
The challenges of complex financial family law issues combined with the opportunity to work with individuals and families to resolve child support, alimony and marital property in matters involving closely held businesses, stock options, executive compensation plans, undisclosed income and hidden assets and the like, has brought Ilene great satisfaction throughout her career.
In child related disputes, Ilene utilizes her wide breadth of knowledge related to the issues that impact children when their parents separate. Ilene advocates for sensitive solutions that foster resiliency in children rather than perpetuating their trauma.
In addition to working as a traditional family law attorney, Ilene is a trained Mediator, Child’s Attorney, Collaborative Law Practitioner and Parent Coordinator.
Ilene is active in the family law legal community. She has been voted Best Lawyers by her peers since 2015. She is currently the Legislative Co-Chair for the Family & Juvenile Section Council of the Maryland State Bar. She is an active member of the Family Law Section of the Baltimore County Bar Association, for which she has served as chair of several programs. Ilene is a member of Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, which enables her to stay abreast of research on a wide breadth of issues affecting families going through separation and divorce. Ilene is also a member of the Collaborative Professionals of Baltimore and a pro bono Collaborative Attorney for the Collaborative Project of Maryland. Ilene teaches and writes in the area of family law.
When Ilene is not working she enjoys spending time with her two sons, going to time in Rehoboth beach, reading and her work on the Board of The Legacy School, a non-profit school for dyslexic children and with the Baltimore Women’s Giving Circle.
